About

Réka Horváth is a painter whose compositions of globular, undulating, and viscous forms fuse the corporeal with the mechanical, the organic with the synthetic. Her surfaces throb with urban dynamism as flesh and infrastructure collapse into
one in scenes of lubricated tension and ecstatic rupture. Drawing on philosophy, psychoanalysis, and critical theory, Horváth approaches painting as a site of inquiry into desire, decay, and transformation. Marked by a haunting materiality that melds musculature, circuitry, and sediment into a sentient, gelatinous mass, her work conjures a world where bodies breathe like engines and cities sweat like skin. She excavates her canvases as if they were living systems, digestive, metabolic, industrial, expelling her interior until it coagulates into a feverish, self-consuming ecology. The result is an erotics of collapse and renewal, a choreography of power and fragility teetering at the threshold between evolution and entropy. Text by curator Evan Karas
